Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Km 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Aguas Calientes
Your adventure begins early with a hotel pickup in Cusco. You’ll head to the Ollantaytambo train station and board a train through the Sacred Valley to Km 104 — the starting point of your trek. After crossing the Urubamba River, the hike gradually ascends through lush vegetation and mountain vistas. Along the way, you’ll explore Wiñay Wayna, an impressive Inca ruin with cascading terraces and ritual structures.
After lunch, the trail continues on a gentle incline until we reach Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, where Machu Picchu reveals itself in the afternoon light — a breathtaking reward. You’ll descend to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu, where dinner awaits and a comfortable hotel stay is provided.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After an early breakfast, you’ll take the bus up to Machu Picchu. Your guide will take you through the most significant temples, terraces, and plazas during a guided 2-hour tour. Following the tour, you’ll have free time to explore on your own, take photos, or even hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (optional add-ons).
You’ll return to Aguas Calientes by bus in time for lunch before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. A private transfer will take you from there to Cusco, where you’ll arrive in the early evening.
